We have a rare opportunity for a hungry and professional Head Chef or Sous Chef looking for that next step to join the team at a one hat restaurant/bar in the Melbourne CBD.  This iconic establishment has long been recognised for serving up top quality food with a Mediterranean flair, successfully accompanied by a stellar cocktail and wine selection. With a focus on using the best of local and seasonal produce to continuously excel, for over 10 years’ creativity and passion have been key to their success. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic chef to take the next step, and make a name for themselves in one of Melbourne’s best venues.

As the successful candidate, you will need to be able to demonstrate your experience in conceptualising and developing menus, including daily specials. This role will also include the training of staff to the high standards required to ensure this fast paced kitchen runs at smooth pace. There is potential for growth within the business, so the successful candidate will need to be a team player and be keen to step up and take a leadership role.

As the successful candidate you will demonstrate:

  • Applicable trade qualifications and accreditations
  • Previous experience within a fast paced kitchen, serving high volumes of quality food
  • Ideally from a Hat or Michelin Star background
  • Ability to design and deliver exceptional menu items
  • Ability to manage ordering, including stock levels, budgets and suppliers
  • Proficiency in all aspects of food safety, including HACCAP
  • Experience managing a team, including proven ability to train staff
  • Positive communication skills, energy and attitude
  • A passion for hospitality and food
