Sous Chef – Cafe – Great Ocean Road

Job Overview

A famous landmark of the Great Ocean Road, our client is searching for an experienced Sous Chef. Located approximately an hour from Melbourne, and a short 20 minute drive from Geelong, this venue boasts a 200 seat Cafe which serves breakfast, lunch and a range of decadent treats.

This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to join a fast paced kitchen team. Together with management the Sous Chefs role will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the busy kitchen.  You will be expected to work day shifts (including Saturday and Sunday) and assist in leading the team by example. The successful candidate should be capable with tasks such as ordering and training. You will be equipped with the ability to multi task and working well with others will be a necessity.

As the successful candidate you will demonstrate:

  • Applicable trade qualifications and accreditation’s
  • Previous experience as a Head or Sous Chef within a fast paced kitchen
  • Ability to manage ordering, including stock levels, budgets and suppliers
  • Previous experience managing a team, including training
  • Proficiency in all aspects of food safety, including HACCAP
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure, and lead by example
  • Positive communication skills, energy and attitude
