Together with our client we have an exciting opportunity for experienced chefs/cooks. Working in this privately owned residence on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, will see you preparing and cooking delicious and nutritionally balanced meals to meet the dietary requirements for up to 90 residents.
Ideally you will have previously worked as a cook in an aged care setting, preparing meals efficiently, with the ability to multi-task, and enjoy working in a steady paced team environment. You will be able to demonstrate competencies in food handling, preparation, storage and ordering.You will be able to understand texture modified foods, thickened fluids, diets and specific dietary requirements.
A Certificate in Safe Food Handling is mandatory and a qualification in Commercial Cookery is highly desirable. Current First Aid Certificate would be advantageous, but not essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for cooking and a person centred approach being supportive, patient, understanding and respectful towards older people.
To be considered for this role the successful candidate will have the following,
• Food Safety Supervisor or be willing to obtain one
• Cooking experience within the aged care industry highly regarded but not essential
• Leadership and communication skills
• Experience in menu preparation and planning
• Ability to manage textured and modified diets according to dietitian and clinical requirements
• An ability to manage staff and lead a team
• A Current Police Check
